BODRUM Located on the Aegean coast of Turkey, less than 4 hours drive from Izmir, easily accessed by air (and quite often by sea) Bodrum offers a host of entertainment to the casual and serious visitor alike. It is difficult to think that anybody visiting Turkey has not heard of or visited Bodrum.
First impressions can be misleading; a sleepy sun drenched town of whitewashed houses nestling on a beautiful hillside overlooking the blue waters of the Aegean would be reasonable. However to actually understand Bodrum and what the region has to offer is something, which can only gained by direct experience.
Bodrum truly offers something for everybody, sun, sea, beaches, vista, food, shopping, history, daytime amusement and Nightlife to rival anything to be found in the Mediterranean. From a toddler to retiree all are accommodated.

TURGUTREIS
Turgutreis is a town in Turkey about a 60 minute drive from Bodrum International Airport. It is the second largest town on the Bodrum peninsula.
The town is named after the famous Turkish admiral Turgut Reis who was born there in 1485. Known in the West as Dragut, Turgut Reis was famous for his expeditions on the coasts of Spain, France, Italy and North Africa, and his participation in the Ottoman siege of Malta. A few kilometres outside the town center, a waterfront memorial with his statue marks the place where he first set sail.
Today the town is a centre for commerce on the western side of the peninsula. Produce from the surrounding villages are collected here for transport, while bakeries, shops and services flourish. The town is a popular holiday destination. Very recently, a new Marina was built in spite of protests and criticisms as townsfolk deemed it an eyesore.
For the most part of time, we almost forget that we all live "in a word". But you are going to be reminded of this truth, when you witness the extraordinary and magic sunset in Turgutreis. You will be taken away by the mysterious horizon that displays colors varying from pink to orange and from red to pırplish-brown; by the islands that turn into dark blue shadows and by the sea that changes its color every second. You will realize too late how meek the night became. You will hear nothing else than the whisper of the sea. You will be able to spell out only one word; if it will be enought to describe your feelings: Magnificent!
This region is one of the most effective connection points of Anatolia with the remaining world, since the day it was established. The region also possesses an active past in terms of its historical background. Invasions and changing reigns led to this cultural variation, as much as it ended up with demolition. Today, each location of the region houses fountains, tombs, cisterns and churches of various historical periods. |

Karabağ
Always living here...
Karabağ that bears historical importance is the place where the Turkish Admiral Turgutreis, the person whom the region was named after, was born. The village that was established in the 15th century continued its development until today. Today, it looks like a typical Mediterraneal town, where modern buildings play a harmonious puzzle with the nature.
Karabağ, that is located among olive groves and gardens of tangerines makes one desire to live always here due to the whitewashed houses adorned with begınvilles and silent slopes leading to the shore. Many foreigners and citizens who chose to live here in Karabağ is the best proof for this issure.

ÇATAL ISLAND
This small island that accompanies the extraordinary sunset to be witnessed at Turgutreis is an excellent palce to relax for lonely explorers who love to stay away from the "shores of civilization". The cyrstal clear waters of the bay makes one witness the feeling of untouched beauties. You can spend hours in Çatal Island with no sound except the whisper of the sea. Besides the sweet whisper of the sea, maybe the scream of a sea-gull will interrupt this tranquility. But you can be sure that Çatal Island will return to its blue silence, just like diving into a dream.
YASSI ISLAND
Yassı Island meaning "flat" in the local language has an altitude of maximum 11 meters and is a real danger for inexperienced captians and sailors due to its sahllow rockbanks. The reanson that the sea surrounding the island is rich in terms of ship wrecks is exactly these dangers. Yassı Island is about to turn into an underwater museum for diving-lovers.

Foods prepared with olive oil, and espencially stuffed vine-leaves, are the leading examples of the Mediterranean cuisine.
